NEW WORK AT CITYSCAPES STUDIO GM8
In the studio at Gabriel Metsustraat 8 Cityscapes Gallery shows a frequently changing selection of the Cityscapes art offer. In May-June 2012 we exhibit recent work by Jeroen Kramer and Wiel Arets,; an artist and an architect with distinct reflections on our rapid changing urban environment.
JEROEN KRAMER: CITY DUST
City Dust is an ongoing project that Jeroen Kramer (1975) started in 2007. By now the City Dust Archive consists of a 1000 drawings in which Jeroen Kramer investigates the fabric of the worldwide metropole in progress. Based on his sketches of an endless urban environment Kramer produces both art works of a gem like quality and large scale, site specific installations. Cityscapes shows at GM8 a number of art works that clearly demonstrate Kramers analyses on the unconcious of the global metropolitan environment.
WIEL ARETS: A WONDERFUL WORLD
Like City Dust, A Wonderful World is a journey into the global cityscape of the 21e century. Where Kramer voyages into the unconcious of the city, Arets investigates the changes provoked by new technological developments in the field of communication- and transport systems. According to Arets in the near future the world will develop into one continuous global city. The chalenge is to keep the natural diverstity and distinguish different neighbourhoods, urban spaces and parks on a global level.
After the Wiel Arets solo exhibition in Antwerp in December 2011, Cityscapes shows A Wonderful World now for the first time in Amsterdam.
